The deepest canyon in Europe is located in Montenegro, Tara Canyon, which is 1300m deep at its peak. Banks of the river and sides of the canyon are covered in thick vegetation: black pine, black hornbeam, black ash, elm and some linden and at higher altitudes you can find, hornbeam, filed maple, beech, etc.
Nevidio, is also considered to the be the best canyoning site in Montenegro, and the last conquered canyon in Europe. Its cliffs are so close to each other that at some points they prevent the light from getting in. But even more difficult is the canyon Grlje, in Prokletije, the coldest and darkest.
